Lemonade Detox Diet
What is Lemonade Detox Diet?
Also known as Master Cleanse, the lemonade detox diet has been discovered about 50 years ago. At the time, it was developed as the way to improve our body’s overall health. This would be done by detoxifying the colon, but soon people noticed how it was related to weight loss.
The lemonade detox diet consists fo 1 teaspoon of maple syrup (grade B), another of lemon juice (freshly squeezed) and half a pinch of cayenne pepper mixed with the water. If you think or feel the cayenne pepper is too spicy, you can take cayenne pepper capsules.
Why should I detox?
Due to our lifestyle, our bodies start accumulating toxins. Bad toxins. These come from food, drinks, cigars… All these toxins end up in our colon, clinging to its walls and “grabing” all the waste that passes through.
All this waste starts accumulating and making the colon’s opening smaller and smaller. This is a big problem, since, besides releasing more toxins, it will prevent all the waste formed after it from passing, which will lead to digestive problems.
How does the Lemonade Detox Diet work?
It is recommended to clean your bowels before you start, by taking a light laxative. You can achieve this by starting your day with a laxative tea or by having a salt-water flush. Salt-water flush is made by drinking a glass of warm water with half a tea spoon of salt.
The purpose of this is to ensure that, even though you are not consuming solid food, your body will still pass the waste.
All throughout the day, you should drink 6 to 9 glasses of the detox lemonade, or every time you feel hungry . You can also have herbal teas during the day, along with the morning and night laxative tea (or salt water).
As you may have already understood, no solid food should be consumed during the cleanse.
The lemonade detox diet usually is endorsed for 10 to 14 days. From the day 4 you can start having small amounts of food. You should increase gradualy, because your body has spent 4 days without solid food and will take a couple of meals to get right on track.
Near the end of the first week, you will start feeling more energetic and healthier.
